Opening Day Festivities!!!

So T-Ball games have officially started. Opening Day was about 2 weeks ago & was a lot of fun but FREEZING!!!! We decided not to go to the pancake breakfast. It was fun last year but didn't want to be there all morning. They of course start off with a parade to showcase all the teams. Then after that was over we did pictures with the team. I got a couple of fun candid shots & while that was happening Sonny was playing with his new friend Abbey. She's soo cute with her little blonde curls & bright blue eyes. After that was over we went home for some lunch. I of course ran out to Target so I could get my copy of "TWILIGHT"!! Priorities!! Then we went back for Blake's 1st game. We were more prepared with rain coats & umbrellas. It was so fun to watch the kids play in their 1st game. Hope you enjoy the pictures. More to come in the future I'm sure!!!

Saying Goodbye........

Goodbye dear sweet pacifier. You have served us well. You will be missed but it is time to say farewell. For the past month or so Brad & I have only been giving Sonny his pacifier at nap & bed time. I wouldn't get him out of bed until he would hand it over. The 1st couple of times were traumatic but he finally got the hang of it. If he wanted out he needed to hand it over. He'd say, "Awake, here go." So cute. Then I decided that it was time for it to go for good. He's almost 2 1/2 & I think that's long enough. The boys spent the night at Grandmother & Grandad's this last weekend & I didn't send the pacifier. I told Grandmother that I thought it might be a good time to break him of it & I hoped he would be ok. The next day I checked on the boys & was told that
he didn't even ask for it once, nor did he need it at bedtime. They said he just passed out. Hurray I thought. That night I didn't give or offer him the pacifier & he cried for about 15 minutes before he fell asleep. Man, I am mean. So I thought great. We are done. So the backup pacifiers have been hidden, at some point I will be ready to throw them away. Then the next night I was gone somewhere & it was Daddy's turn to put him to bed. Well, I feel as though I was sabotaged!! Dad didn't want to hear him crying & found one that I didn't know was out & let him have it. What the Heck!!! Way to go Dad & Thank you very much for helping me out!!! Whatever!!! The next night I didn't give it to him & we are on our way to being totally pacifier free. I must say that Sonny has had it way easier than Blake did. With Blake I was mad one day & just threw them all away. He had no transition period. No, I was not mad at him, I was mad at his Dad & took it out on the pacifier. As I'm typing this, Sonny is down for a nap & having a fit. I will not give in!!! Here's a farewell tribute to our beloved pacifier that we (I) finally decided to say goodbye to. Hope you enjoy. In no particular order:
Sonny @ 4 weeks old @ Disneyland.

Exersaucer fun @ the shop.
Sonny & Julie.
Sonny just a few weeks old or so.
Sonny playing on the beach at the coast.

You are not a true cowboy unless you have your pacifier.
Which one do I want. I seriously found him like this one day & took a picture.
How many do you count? I think there's 5.

Me& my baby boy!!

I believe this was the day of his 2nd Birthday.

Daddy & his boy.

This was after Sonny fell in the pool. Don't worry. I was standing right there
& plucked him right out. Amazing what you can do when your instincts
just kick in.
My 2 handsome boys!!

What a cutie pie!!
Well Sonny, we've come a long way. You are so cute & it always amazed people how
well they could understand you even with you pacifier in. He still says,"need pacifier"
but I just tell him no, you are a big boy now. And he is getting so big. Kinda makes me sad.
But, it's ok.

Nothing Too Exciting

Not too much has been happening around our house. Just the same 'ole stuff. But that's ok. I've been busy with the enchilada fundraiser we had this last Saturday for Girls Camp. Now that it's finally over, I might be able to stay around the house this week. Poor Brad, he's sooo sick. Last week Kylie (I babysit her) had a snotty green nose & then Sonny picked it up, but Brad got the worst of it. I feel so bad for him. I know he's miserable. Hopefully it passes quickly. I've been scouring blogs & the internet to come up with some easy & cute crafts that we can make for camp. One blog I Love is makeitandloveit. Go check Ashley out, she's got easy cute stuff. If anyone else has some cute easy ideas, please send them my way. The key is "EASY".
Other than that, not too much to post on. Back to my oh so normal life. That's ok. Oh, I'm also trying to make flannel boards for my kids. I think it will be a fun way to do Scripture stories. The new Nursery manual has excellent & simple pictures. Go check it out here. Just trying to figure out the best way to attach the pictures to the felt. Oh by the way, I LOVE the weather today. I wish I was at the beach. It is totally beach weather. Nor-cal beach weather.

Look what I came home to today...

I always ♥ to see the boys out mowing with their Daddy!!!

It's Just a Name......

So I went to the bank today & had what I think was an interesting moment so I will share. After I gave my account # Colt asked, "Shannon?" And I said yes & then said, "you hope, right? You'd hope my parents didn't name me Brad." Then Colt proceeded to say, "It's just a name." And that was the end of our conversation except for the casual have a nice day & so forth. But as I walked out I thought, "just a name? No way!! It's my name & I think it's the best name/sound that I could ever hear." I mean, think about it for a second. Your name was specially picked out for you by parents who thought long & hard about what would be the perfect name. It's not just a name. I mean, doesn't it make you smile when you hear someone say your name? Especially when you think that people may not remember you in the 1st place. It always makes me feel so good. Yes, there are people who do not like their names, but I like mine & I don't think of it a just a name/word. Some people I think overthought the process of a name but all the same, they thought long & hard about what would be the most perfect name. Your name is a gift that should be treasured even if it's what's considered plain or unique. You make you, & people remember you by your name & what you do or did. So let's all remember that our names are special & it's NOT just a name. Besides, I think that his name "Colt" was kind of cool.

Brad turns 29

Last week was Brad's 29th Birthday!!! I know, he's gettin up there, but he'll never be as old as me. We had a nice day. We dropped the kids off @ Grandmother & Grandad's & then we went to see the movie "The Wrestler". It was pretty good. Then we went back to his Grandparent's house & had a nice spaghetti dinner with them & the boys. It was really nice. Then on Wednesday we went to dinner with his mom at Black Angus. Bryan & Kimi came too. It was a nice night & fun to spend more time with our family. The Mud Pie is always sooo good!!! Then on Saturday we went to his dad's to celebrate with him. I hope that Brad had a nice Birthday week. Happy Birthday Babe!!!

Brad with his Birthday treat from Black Angus.
Brad & Sonny blowing out the Birthday candle.

Sonny enjoying his "I cream"....mmmmm

This is the Ice Cream Cake that Connie made for Brad.
We had this at his Dad's house. It was really
good & I think that if I attempted to make it
it would actually turn out....hahaha

Need some Ideas

Ok, to all of my creative friends out there, this plea is for you. If you don't know already, I am the Ward Girls Camp Director. Going on my 5th year....YIKES!!! Anyway our whole theme is "The Happiest Camp on Earth" you know, like Disneyland. Our individual themes are princesses. My ward chose Snow White. We had a little planning meeting last night to try to come up with a cute name, but fell a little short. So here's where I need some ideas. We kind of want to go with a reflection/apple theme. Got any ideas? Throw 'em my way & I will definitely take them into consideration. Let's see what happens. I'll keep you updated. Would it frustrate anyone else if only 4 girls showed up & there's at least 10 that want to go? You'd think after 4 years of doing this already I wouldn't be surprised. Hahaha!!!

T-ball Practice

T-ball for Blake started just a couple weeks ago. He's on a new team with all new coaches & all new players. I was a little disappointed about that but it's ok. He's doing really well already. He's wearing his Red's hat from last year. Hopefully we get the uniform stuff before Opening Day & pictures!! Oh, I'm sure we will!! He's on the A's this year. Here's a couple of photos from the last practice & video. Oh, did I mention that there are a million mosquitoes at practice. What, with the wet weather & the stagnant water out on the field & all. Just gotta remember the repellent.

Here he is walking in from the outfield.
Waiting for his next turn to bat.

Here's a couple of videos of him batting!!!

Just Messing Around

I l♥ve doing this kind of stuff. It's too much fun.........(at least for me :)

Page 56 of the nearest book...
Rules:
* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence along with these instructions in a note to your wall.
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.
* Now you do it!

"Nephi taught us to "feast upon the words of Christ" (2Nephi 32:3), and this activity is certainly not intended to suggest that a feast is not in order."
Since my computer is at the desk, I have a few "churchy" books nearby. I swear I did NOT go searching for this book. I still haven't even read all the way through this book. Funny!! It's fun. Go do it.

Side note: After reading the instructions again, I believe this was found on Facebook, hence post on your wall.......LOL!!!

Tagged!!

So, my friend Summer tagged me in her last post. You are supposed to go to your 6th folder & then post the 6th picture. So, here it is.............
This is a picture of Uncle Erick hanging Blake upside down after his haircut by Aunt Amelia. So now I'm going to tag 6 of my friends. Don't know if that's the rule but that's what I'm doing. I tag Stephanie, Janene, Esmeralda, Olivia, Debie, & Skij. Leave a comment on their blogs so they know they've been tagged!! Have fun!!

My 100th Post!!!

100

I know!! 100 posts, stinkin CRAZY!! I can't believe it's only 100!! Sometimes I have so much to say but then I remember that this is a public family blog & I have to watch myself sometimes!! Hahaha!! So, here's to my 100th post!!! Cheers, & many more to come!!
