Almost 3 miles!!

Well, I went out for my morning jog with Sarah today & everything was going great. All of a sudden I felt this pulling on the inside of my ankle. I was slowing down because it was starting to hurt. I caught up to Sarah & her mom-in-law to let them know I was going to have to go slower. Dang it!!! So, I didn't quite go 3 miles, but almost. Hopefully it's just because I didn't stretch it out enough. Who knows. But, I'm feeling good, & glad that we are doing this jogging thing. I also took Blake over to do a Valentine craft @ Michael's today. It was fun & I think I need to take more opportunities to do the "FREE" stuff around town. Gotta love when stuff is "FREE"!!

Counting with Sonny

Please remember that this is not Sonny's regular voice. He's been sick with a terrible cough & so his voice is a little off. It's funny!!

100 Days of School Project

So, my little boy Blake has reached 100 days of school. CRAZY!! The kids were assigned to do a project with 100 of anything. We thought about it & Brad actually came up with the idea of using 100 pennies. We thought it was a great idea & Blake agreed & since we the pennies it worked out great. Blake & I went & bought some posterboard & glue. A few days later we got the board ready & Blake counted out 10 piles of 10pennies. It was great & Sonny even joined in. So I go to get the "crazy glue" & put some glue on a penny to show Blake what to do & guess what I did.......I totally glued my fingers together!!! Who'd a thunk. I thought I could just pull them apart but that totally didn't work. I was getting a little worried & then I pulled the packaging out of the garbage & read that I needed to use nailpolish remover or warm soapy water. I opted for the nailpolish remover. I poured it over the glue but it wasn't working. Then I proceeded to pour it into a bowl & soak my fingers. Finally after about 10 minutes of trying to roll my fingers apart, they unstuck. I was seriously worried. I don't think I'll be using "crazy glue" again anytime soon. (should've taken a picture). Anyway we then proceeded to use my super handy hot glue gun. worked great. Blake glued the pennies down & then Brad said we didn't do it right. The next day we pulled all the pennies off & then redid it to look kinda like a $1.00 bill. Blake did all of the drawing & all the gluing. It looks like I did one side & he did the other, but he did it all. I was so proud of him & he had a lot of fun!! He loves to do artsy crafty things.

Just Thinking

I just keep thinking that I have so much to do. So why do I spend so much time on this stinking computer? Well, it seems to be an outlet for me. I am not the most creative person in the world. I usually get ideas from friends & other resources, which I am truly grateful for. It's fun for me to talk about the things I've done & the things I'm working on & to also know that I'm not alone in many of the things that I'm am going through. I love to be able to connect to people. It seems like I don't get out much, I'm usually babysitting or working so I don't have much of an outside social life, so blogging & Facebook keep me connected. Thank Goodness. Anyway, I have lots more to post but, I must go & attend to the dishes before they are way out of control. (which happens from time to time). Oh yeah, and that stinking laundry. It never ends. By the way, it's Monday, the day that I've chosen to read Church or Church related materials & it's going well. It gives me time to read things that I just don't make time for. I feel good about it!! Also on Saturday, Sarah & I walked 2 miles. It was good but felt long. I'm grateful to be getting back in shape.

Good Mom or Bad Mom

Ever since we moved the Playstation 2 into Blake's room & he got games for Christmas, he always wants to play. Of course, who can blame him. All the Legos games are so addicting. Well he woke up today around 7:15 (yes, I know it's early) & I told him I didn't want him to play all day because I didn't want his brain to rot. (yes, my exact words). He laughed & thought it was funny & then what do I do? I then ask him if he wants to watch TV. What's the difference, I ask myself? Well, video games should be a privilige, not an expected thing. TV should be a privilege too. Oh well, nobody's perfect.

Wonderful Women

I would just like to say that I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful women, near & far. I'm grateful to be able to work & serve with such amazing women. From Primary to Young Women's to Visiting Teaching & so forth. I truly believe that Heavenly Father has allowed me to cross paths with these women. I am always lifted & renewed after reading something they've written or something they've taught. Keep up the good work & thank you for being a part of my life.

Shoes!

Blake has his own digital camera & while I was loading his pictures on the computer I found this one. I love it. Just a pic of me & my converse tennis shoes. It's fun going through his pictures to see what he thinks is cool in his world. I'll have to do a slide show for all of his pictures cause he has a tendency to take a lot of the same picture, but I hear that is a good way to get "THE" shot. Maybe I should try that out. I'm trying to learn more tricks so that I can take Great pictures.

2 Miles

So today we jogged/walked 2 miles. Woohoo!! We did it in just under 30minutes. Surprising because the other night at the gym I did only 1 1/2 in 30 minutes. It's different when you're outside as opposed to on the treadmill. Anyway, it's tough but thank goodness for my friend Sarah & her enthusiasm. She started training last summer with a group so she has a lot of helpful tips.
We got Blake signed up for T-ball. It's going to be fun to go out there & cheer for him again. I'm sure he will have even more fun this year too!! Hopefully I meet some nice mom's too. I met some really nice mom's last year who I still talk to cause our kids are at the same school.
It's been a busy day, still there's never enough time in the day to get everything done. Just gotta keep trying.

Safety Gear!!

So I took the kids to the park yesterday after Blake got out of school. It's been such nice weather & me & the kids definitely needed a change of scenery. Well I noticed something while I was there (cuz I'm always looking around at what other people are doing). There was another mom there with her 2 kids (of course it's a park!). Well this mom & her oldest boy were talking about the boy riding his bike. She told him he had to put all his gear on 1st. This included a helmet, knee pads & elbow pads. Safety 1st, of course. Well here's the part that strikes me as odd. This boy must've been between 3-4 years old. He got all of his gear on but wait, what in the heck is the point of all this safety gear if you are not going to insist that he wear 1) pants (over his diaper) & 2) shoes & socks!!! Some people just don't get it. Yes his head, knees & elbows were protected but what about his FEET & his dignity!! Yes I know, little kids don't care about dignity, but you gotta teach 'em sometime. Anyway, I just thought it was funny to go through that & not make sure he was fully clothed with pants & shoes too!! Just wanted to share. But it was a great day at the park. If this weather continues, which it probably won't, we'll be going to the park again.

Bedtime Stories

Yes, Brad is inside the crib. On occasion before I put Sonny in his bed we will come in & find that Daddy is in his bed. This was just the other night & Sonny walked in & said "Get out Mister!!"
It was so cute. Sonny decided it was ok & daddy proceeded to read Sonny's favorite bedtime story. It was Blake's fave too, I think he still really likes it. They both know it by heart.

Name Change

So I decided to change the name of my blog. I hope it doesn't confuse anybody. I just thought that since I use our real names that I should take off our actual last name. And since I'm the one who actually does the blogging it has my name. It's funny, I used to hate it when my mom called me Shan but as I got older I didn't mind so much. I don't know if I like the new name, so it might change again. What are your thoughts? So there you go. Today's been a good day. Just a little sore from yesterday & the workouts that I started. Sharing Time went better than I thought. (doesn't it usually!) Thank goodness I'm not doing it all by myself if you know what I mean.

Train Museum

We went to the Railroad Museum last Saturday & the kids had a ton of fun. I had fun too.
I think the best part was that the whole time we were there, Sonny kept saying
"Real Train" over & over. He loves trains. So here's the pics from our day. If you've
never been, you should go. It's really neat. I'd like to go again. I've never ridden on a
"REAL TRAIN" before. Only BART. (does that count?)
I took this pic while standing upstairs.
Display behind a glass case.
Sonny looking down at all the "Real Trains".
Walking by the train that they have upstairs.
What's a train museum without some Thomas the Tank Engine?
Some more displays.
Watching the train they had going around the Christmas tree.
Sonny kept going under the ropes trying to get closer.
Sonny, Libby & Blake looking at "real trains"

Pic of old mail. I thought it was really cool learning about how the trains were used to
deliver the mail. Very stressful. Now they use planes & trucks. Much faster.

Blake & Sonny at the beginning of the track.

Trying to climb on in.
We had a very fun day & after we went across the street to the candy store & loaded up on
salt water taffy. Have you tried the chocolate chip cookie flavor? MMMM...so good.

Wow....What a day!

Well I started the day off by joing my friend Sarah for a 1 mile jog. Her mother-in-law joined us & we jogged for 2 minutes & walked for 1 minute. I think I did ok...it kind of kicked my butt. But, it's the 1st time & I can only improve, right. So, it's good exercise & I'm hoping that I can at least lose some weight & improve on my times when I do 5k's. Then later Brad took the boys to "Adventureland" with his mom, Bryan, Kimi & Libby. They had fun & I went & saw "Bride Wars" with my friends Sarah & Heather. Very cute movie, I really liked it. After Sonny & I took naps I played Indiana Jones Legos with Blake & I got through 2 levels. It's crazy the amount of bickering my 6 year old son & I do while playing video games. CRAZY, but we did finally have fun. It was a nice but long day. I have so many things that I need to be working on but sometimes I need to stop saying no to my little boy. Tomorrow's another day & I can start work on my chores again.

Dancing Sonny

New Goals

So I was talking with my good friend Karen F. yesterday & I came up with a new plan for myself. I told her that we should pick a day & devote it to reading Church material. Each week on that day I will put aside all of my other reading materials & pick up the Scriptures & other Church material & read & study. All the other days I can read & listen to anything else I want to but on this day I willput forth the effort to gain more knowledge & grow closer to my Heavenly Father. No, I did not choose Sunday. I actually chose Monday. I chose Monday because I wanted to get started on it right away & I'm also trying to do better at FHE. So, I did it!!! I read the Sunday School lesson & also looked over my sharing time lesson for this Sunday. I will still have to go back to it because I didn't come up with anything (I am a last minute planner) yet. I just wanted to share this with all of you because I know how hard it is to set aside time to read our scriptures. This is just something that I'm going to do & thank goodness I was talking to my friend & actually had the idea come to me. If I hadn't been talking to her, maybe the idea would not have come my way. I know it's the beginning of a new year with goals & all, but I've been thinking about this for a long time. I want to be closer to the Spirit & I think that this is a step in the right direction. So, wish me luck & ask me how I'm doing so that I can keep myself on track.

Another Day

So it seems I've made it through another day. Hurray! I was able to tear myself away from all of my daily duties & make a trip up to the Sacramento Temple. I'm so glad that I got to take time out to go. It's always nice to go & refresh my memory & remember how wonderful it is to have the Gospel in my life. (Just a pic I took & yes there was a wedding party there.) Hopefully tomorrow I will get the Christmas decorations put away.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone!! I'm grateful for a new year & all it has to bring. I know that we will be hitting more rough spots before the real calm actually comes but, thank goodness for family.
We had so much fun at Blake's party last night. He's a lucky little boy to have so many people to love him. We had Bryan & Kimi over along with Nick & Hailee later & played Catan. That game is so fun. Then Brad, Bryan & Kimi turned all the lights off & played with light sabers in the dark. I taped it but don't know how it turned out. It was so funny.
I hope & pray that I can continue to improve this next year. I plan to do more to draw closer to the Lord & strengthen my own testimony while trying to teach my precious little boys. I plan to be a better wife & mom. I plan to declutter. This may take some time but I know it will help me so much. I really don't need so much stuff. I also plan to get in shape. I keep putting it off but I really want to do it. Line upon line. Wish me luck. And good luck to all of you with you goals.
